Hale Dog Park was cleaned up.
Trusting Spirit Horse Rescue area was cleaned up; 2 shelters constructed.
Boxes of pet food were collected and donated to Wenatchee Humane Society.
CHILDREN
Bikes for Kids. 88 bikes given away; $10.00 collected.
Bike repair clinic. Bikes repaired; 7 bikes donated to bike repair clubs.
Books for children. 100 kids’ books were collected for the Literacy Council.
Sleep Tight Project. Cascade Christian Academy students made fleece blankets
Students (mostly from Cascade Christian Academy) sewed Christmas stockings for CASA.
Stocking stuffers were donated to CASA.
1400 lbs. of textiles were donated to Wenatchee High School for band fundraiser.
Coats for Kids collection: 936 coats; numerous jackets, hats, scarves, gloves. $3,978.00 collected.
Diaper Drive (Junior Service League): 52,714 diapers; 84,506 wipes; 1,767 oz. formula, $3,525 collected.
Duffle bags and suitcases … 95 in all. .. were collected for foster kids.
Education for Homeless Students’ program collected $45.00.
Boxes of new clothes for foster kids were collected.
Coaches were recruited for Girls on the Run; $5 collected.
Office Moms and Dads program was presented at Share Fair at Pybus Market.
Supplies for ‘Gold’n’Plum Hospital Kits’-for parents whose children are suddenly sent to the
hospital-were collected at Pybus Market.
Kids Helping Kids collected toys, sports equipment, and craft supplies for Camp
Korey. Pictures taken and face painting at project, too! $47, 719.35 was also raised.
Monster Bash (Halloween Party) was hosted by SAGE to promote healthy interaction between parents/children. $95 was collected.
Food was collected for Packing Friendship Program resulting in the Panther
House (food pantry for homeless students at Wenatchee High School) being completely stocked!
Quilts and quilting supplies were donated to Buttercup Quilting who, in turn,
makes quilts for foster children.
200 tote bags (Sleep Tight Project) were filled with fleece blankets, stuffed
toys, toothbrush and toothpaste and books. These were given to children in foster
care and in shelters.
First Responder Derby raised $2,500 for Special Olympics.
Stories were collected for the 16th year for Teachers Make A Difference book.
Proceeds from the Teachers Make A Difference books provide scholarship money for high school students.
Hundreds of supporters joined the Buddy Walk … promoting the value, acceptance, and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.
HOMELESSNESS, POVERTY, DEVELOPING COUNTRIES
Kiwanis clubs collected 54 blankets and 122 pairs of eyeglasses.
Lighthouse Ministry cleaned up (Cascade Christian Academy).
Warm clothing collected for Hospitality House Ministries.
Food Drive for local food banks collected 3200 lbs. of food.
Green Bag Program was promoted at Share Fair at Pybus Market
YWCA sponsored a Drag Show fundraiser to benefit the YWCA. $13,000.00
was raised!
Volunteers sorted donated clothing and items at the Salvation Army.
203 feminine hygiene kits were cut, assembled, and sewn at the Days for Girls
sewing bee.
Women’s Resource Center collected boxes of non-food essential items.
AmeriCorps volunteers painted, organized, cleaned, etc. at the Women’s Resource Center.
$1700 was collected at WHS-EHS football game for flood victims (Football for Flood Victims)
ELDERLY
Home and yard projects performed for seniors referred by Catholic Family Services. (Cascade Christian Academy)
Students visited, sang, and gave homemade cards to Seniors in retirement
homes. (Cascade Christian Academy)
71 piano students (of Washington Music Teachers Association) performed at area retirement
homes.
50 Teddy Bears were collected to be given to people in “forgotten” age groups.
ENVIRONMENT
Clean up at Kiwanis Methow Park.
Ingalls Creek Enrichment Center on Blewett Pass. Trail work and maintenance; rock removal.
Barn Beach Reserve, Leavenworth. Clean up and trail maintenance.
Camp Zanika at Lake Wenatchee. Fall clean-up and maintenance.
YMCA camp at Lake Wenatchee. Clean up and maintenance.
Valley View Cemetery, East Wenatchee, cleanup by East Wenatchee Rotary.
Douglas Creek plantings and clean up.
Downtown Wenatchee clean up. (18 big bags of leaves and garbage collected.)
Entiat Landscaping Project. Clean up and tree, shrub planting by library.
Fire Prevention: clearing fence lines and property borders of fire fuels at Saddlerock Gateway Park/Appleatchee.

Chelan County PUD gave away free LED light bulbs at Pybus Market.
Malaga Park Clean up; weeding, sanding and painting of benches.
Our House/Cancer Care yard clean up and lunch for volunteers.
Columbia Elementary School; leaves raked by one individual.
WSU Master Gardeners offered free tool sharpening. 30 lopers were sharpened.
Chelan-Douglas Land Trust planted 1600 sagebrush seedlings by local trails.
West Foster Creek. 500 riparian trees, shrubs, and forms planted, and protectors installed.
HEALTH
The One Campaign participated at the Share Fair to advocate against poverty and disease.
Information about organ donation was disseminated at the Share Fair.
Wellness Place received proceeds from Paint the Rink Pink (hockey game) fund
raiser. Over $10,000.00 collected.
Zumba party in Waterville raised $1,000.00 for student undergoing cancer
treatments.
A photographer raised $200.00 for family for neonatal care.
OTHER
“Work, Play, Pray, and Eat” celebrated the 500 year anniversary of the Protestant
Reformation. Catholic and Protestant volunteers gathered together in a show of
unity and cleaned a park, put the community garden to bed, etc.
Our Valley, Our Future gave a presentation to the public and celebrated past
achievements and progress.
Literacy Council shared information and recruited volunteers.
Various groups shared their respective missions at a Share Fair.
A floral bouquet was presented as a Make A Difference Day gift.
Veterans received free estate planning services from local lawyers at Wenatchee Valley College.
Nominations were solicited for the Civil Rights and Justice Award.
Total funds raised during the 2017 Make A Difference Day: $83,772.35
118 businesses, sponsors, and venues were a part of Make A Difference Day.
Notes:
13 grants of $200 each were awarded to13 groups for 2017 projects.
These grants came out of a fund at the North Central Washington Foundation
established with prize monies from previous years’ Make A Difference Day
entries.
